Apple has shut down the first fully-functional Mac OS X ransomware

Apple has shut down what appears to have been the first, fully-functional ransomware targeting Mac computers. This particular form of cyber threat involves malware that encrypts the data on your personal computer so you can no longer access it. Afterwards, the hackers request that you pay them in a hard-to-trace digital currency – in this case, bitcoin – in order for you to retrieve your files. This ransomware, called KeRanger,” was first reported by researchers at Palo Alto Networks. They also noted that Apple has now revoked the abused certificate that was used in the attack and updated its built-in anti-malware system XProtect with a new signature to protect customers. Technically, KeRanger was not the first ransomware aimed at Mac users. The security firm said that another malware application known as  FileCoder  had been previously discovered. Microsoft has announced today that its Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book have beencertified by Siemens for use with Solid Edge, one of the world’s leading CAD programs. Microsoft’s latest premium devices received this certification after being submitted to a rigorous testing process to ensure that Solid Edge runs optimally on them. Siemens PLM Software SVP Mainstream Engineering John Miller added that “Surface is the fastest-growing mobile device platform with our Solid Edge user base for 3D CAD.” Microsoft also used this opportunity to share an interesting Surface Pro 4 use case through the work of Phillip Norman, an artist and self-taught engineer using a Surface Pro 4 to run his robotics company called Ross Robotics. According to him, the Surface’s portability and power have changed the way he works: “Just being able to take my work with me anywhere—any sort of work, even amazingly, CAD—shows the Surface is a powerful workstation, as slim and neat as a small pad...

Surface Book

Surface Book Announced in October of 2015, the Surface Book sports a 13.5-inch PixelSense screen with a “dynamic fulcrum hinge” that provides a smooth, solid feel to the machine. The Surface Book also houses its processor in the display, which doubles as a tablet.
